Product Manager

Remote (Canada)

Full time

CAD $90,000-120,000

About Us

VinoCheck is a Canadian software company making wine compliance easier, more accurate, and more affordable. We build tools that help wineries manage complex requirements and reduce the time spent on compliance.

Our founding team brings deep experience building software for the wine industry. We’re expanding our existing product team, and this is a newly created position to support our growth, not a replacement for an existing team member.

The Role

We’re hiring a product manager with 3–5+ years of experience to turn product direction into clear requirements and shipped features.

You’ll be given the roadmap and major priorities, and you’ll own day-to-day product execution: understanding problems, defining requirements, preparing work for development, resolving questions, and verifying that completed features meet the intended requirements.

You’ll have the authority to make smaller product decisions independently. We also expect you to challenge assumptions, push back when something doesn’t make sense, and recommend better approaches.

Success means we ship faster, developers spend less time waiting for answers, and requirements are clear enough to reduce avoidable rework and scope changes.

Responsibilities

  • Gather requirements from the founder, customers, partners and other relevant sources.

  • Interview customers and collect feedback to understand their workflows and problems.

  • Write clear specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria, including relevant edge cases.

  • Create basic functional wireframes to communicate workflows and interface behavior.

  • Manage and prioritize the development backlog within the agreed roadmap.

  • Prepare work for development by identifying dependencies, resolving open questions, and defining scope.

  • Coordinate delivery, remove blockers, and provide timely answers during development.

  • Evaluate proposed scope changes, explain their impact, and make tradeoffs explicit before work changes.

  • Test completed features against requirements and acceptance criteria, and approve them for release.

  • Write release notes and support documentation so customers understand new functionality.

  • Improve the product development process based on feedback and delivery results.

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of product management experience delivering software products.

  • Demonstrated ability to turn complex or ambiguous problems into clear, actionable requirements.

  • Experience managing a backlog and taking features from discovery through release.

  • Strong written communication skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to identify edge cases, dependencies, and unanswered questions before they disrupt development.

  • Enough technical understanding of APIs, databases, and integrations to discuss requirements and tradeoffs with developers. Coding experience is not required.

  • Ability to create simple wireframes that explain functionality and user workflows. Visual design expertise is not required.

  • Confidence in making day-to-day decisions independently and constructively challenging assumptions.

  • Ability to manage changing information while keeping scope and priorities clear.

  • Must be based in Canada and legally authorized to work full-time.

Experience with SaaS products or complex business workflows is an asset. Wine industry and compliance experience are not required.

What Success Looks Like

  • Developers have clear, sufficiently defined work ready to begin.

  • Questions and blockers are resolved quickly.

  • Scope changes are deliberate, with their impact understood.

  • Features meet agreed requirements and are verified before release.

  • We ship useful improvements faster, with less avoidable rework.

What We Offer

  • Annual salary of CAD 90,000-120,000 based on experience.

  • Benefits through a Health Spending Account (HSA).

  • Fully remote work within Canada.

  • Ownership of day-to-day product execution and room to improve how we work.

  • An environment where constructive disagreement and independent thinking are encouraged.

  • The opportunity to build software that solves practical problems for wineries.
